DESCRIPTION:
On January 28, 2009, the European Commission announced proposals for investment in energy infrastructure over the next few years. A total of €1.05 billion is proposed for investment in 7 carbon capture and storage projects with investments of up to €0.18 for each project.

Proposed projects on the shortlist include 7 post combustion capture, 2 oxycombustion, 3 Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle with capture, and one steel plant.

The Commission stated that it hopes that normal procedures in the other EU institutions can be accelerated in order to start spending in 2009. A list of CCS projects to receive funding appears in the link listed below.
