DESCRIPTION:
The GEOTECHNOLOGIEN-Programme (CO2-Storage) of the Federal ministry of Education and Research aims on R&D-funding on basic research as well as on large field experiments focussed on CO2-storage. Objectives are the development of technologies that enable safe and permanent storage as well as longterm and reliable monitoring. Furthermore projects are oriented towards a large scale demonstration. Collaborative research projects between science and industry are in the focus of the GEOTECHNOLOGIEN-Programme. For the period 2005– 2011, 24 projects with an amount of more than 50 Mio. € project funding have been approved.
EXPERIENCE:
The GEOTECHNOLOGIEN-Programme as well as the COORETEC-Programme has proven to successfully link the excellent research infrastructure in Germany with the relevant sectors from industry. The programme is the basis for future CCS-demonstration projects.
